During medical school, she was inducted into the Gold Humanism Honor Society for exemplifying compassionate and humanistic clinical care. She has published on healthcare inequity and collaborative care and has previously served as a Systems of Care Committee member for the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.

Dr. Hu has additional training in women's mental health, first-episode psychosis, autism and intellectual/developmental disabilities, and a variety of therapy modalities (including cognitive behavioral therapy, family therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, psychodynamic therapy, and parent management training). In addition to outpatient private practice, Dr. Hu currently provides inpatient and emergency psychiatry care to individuals in the local community and provides psychiatric care to children and adolescents who are engaged with Catawba County Social Services through Family NET.

When not working, Dr. Hu enjoys hiking, reading, writing, and spending time with her family. Her shih-tzu sometimes makes guest appearances during visits!
