About Me

Dr. Jennifer Hu is a double board-certified child/adolescent and adult psychiatrist. She earned her Bachelor's Degree in English Literature from Swarthmore College and received her Medical Degree from the University of Rochester School of Medicine. She completed her adult psychiatry residency at Cambridge Health Alliance/Harvard Medical School and her child/adolescent psychiatry fellowship at Duke University, where she served as chief fellow.

 

Driven by a desire to understand others' experiences and help individuals find healing and meaning in their lives, she provides culturally informed mental health care to children, adolescents, adults, and their families. She understands that there is so much to learn and understand about one another and strives to provide inclusive care for all.​

Dr. Hu has been nationally recognized for excellence in the medical humanities and family-oriented care. During medical school, she was inducted into the Gold Humanism Honor Society for exemplifying compassionate and humanistic clinical care. She has published on healthcare inequity and collaborative care and has previously served as a Systems of Care Committee member for the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.

 

Dr. Hu has additional training in women's mental health, first-episode psychosis, autism and intellectual/developmental disabilities, eating disorders, and a variety of therapy modalities (including cognitive behavioral therapy, family therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, psychodynamic therapy, and parent management training).

When not working, Dr. Hu enjoys hiking, reading, writing, and spending time with her family. Her shih-tzu sometimes makes guest appearances during visits!
